I watched a really motivating DVD last night from Hillsong last night. It was the tonic I needed to help me tackle a piece of work in which I found myself stuck in the old routine.
The program went into the story of Peter fishing with the some other disciples. Now Peter was an expert fisherman. However, this night his faith had been shattered because of circumstance he did not understand. He fished without his faith and caught, nothing.
Seeing Jesus on the shore was a slap in the face. Staying in the boat, going through the motions with the same old gang was no longer an option.
He leapt into the water for an experience with God. Peter was not destined to be just a fisherman. He needed to let go of what he knew to find out what he was destined for. He not only let go, he jumped out!
The disciples carried on fishing. Jesus called out to throw the nets the other side of the boat. They hauled in the biggest catch. Just because you haven't caught anything doesn't mean you are not close!
Peter meanwhile was on the beach. Where Jesus had prepared some cooked fish. The disciples landed their boat and met up with Peter and Jesus. Peter had made a bold decision and with faith he went for it, losing nothing and gaining it all!
Today, I stopped following the routine and stepped back. It was a colleague of mine who stepped up and helped me get out of my 'boat' and find a new perspective. I was able to use my new and developing communication skills. I gained the understanding and agreement of others to provide resource and support to work to produce a bid for contract work.
Now, that's a win!
