Help! I can't choose

Great news, I can get a new bike from my bike to work scheme. One bike. That's all. Ok, so let's make a decision, it can't be that hard. Well, it can, let me tell you.

My choice is around either a Claud Butler Dalesman or a Yuba Mundo. Both utilitarian but, on opposite sides of the spectrum. After showing a new level of indecision, I turned to the Plus / Minus / Interesting tool to flush out my beliefs around these 2 options. I surprised myself at what this different approach to my thinking revealed.

The Dalesman was all about admiration for a great bike. It was like I was admiring a piece of art. As much as I love bikes, this is eh hem, just a bike (ouch). The dalesman was also all about me to the exclusion of others. When you have a wife & 2 kids that doesn't cut the mustard. The Dalesman was about more cycling but less family....

Roll forward the Mundo. It ain't sexy, it ain't pretty and it ain't gonna win any races. It will be however, that well loved sofa that is comfy & quietly without drama supports the family. With it, I can take the family out to see more of York, get the kids riding more quickly because the Mundo will always be there to carry them & their bikes when needed. I can relight romantic intentions & take the missus for dates on it. As well as gluing the family together, the Mundo can also shift stuff. Pretty much anything.

So, PMI thinking showed me there was only one winner when my thinking couldn't separate my choices.
