Well, what a difference 24 hours makes.
My efforts to push my coaching aspirations have been sucked away into writing a 7 figure service bid. This hit IT problems yesterday. You can probably imaging the state change I had. Something inside me told me to take a break and do something different. As my focus moved away from this bit of work, I realised I had promised to meet the Head of Organisational Development (OD), needed to get in contact with my Coach and had some journals to catch up on. I had almost dismissed these things I had planned...
The results of stepping away and coming back to areas I was about to dismiss were quite amazing;
The Head of OD wants me to head up some workshops to coach and facilitate some senior members of the organisation to unpick some organisation goals to establish the root cause driving these that will then help shape possibility thinking and who to involve to address the issues. Perfect!
During the session with my Coach, I had a moment of clarity! Tonight, I shall meet the Global York Academy (a group who support the community in many ways) and establish the scope of a bunch of workshops around effective thinking skills, goal setting and success modelling.
Finally, I looked at the monthly ASSIST magazine with a bit of excitement because it was all about personal development. A perfect arena to sell coaching, I thought. Finally, within a piece on Mentoring I found reference to Coaching. Aaaahhh! The author defined Coaching incorrectly, as a way to increase knowledge to improve a technical skill! A few conversations later defined what I will do; write a response to the article and use this to frame what I do to hopefully get some clients.
Wow, three good bets made! We shall see how these 'horses' run in the race.
