Shelle Rose Charvet

I saw Shelle Rose Charvet at a coaching presentation in Newcastle. What a character and what a presenter. I found her truly engaging and fascinating. Her topic included her well known book “Words that change minds” a book I have found really useful in understanding other people’s behaviours in the work place and actually applied to recruitment with good results. My key learning was that enthusiasm can make people sceptical. Enthusiasm has been the number 1 weapon in my armoury. I now can see why it has failed in some cases. A better way to try is to be less enthusiastic and more invitational. Sounds better just saying it. I also took away the need, for many people to use push and pull tactics to help them achieve their goals. Sometimes the push and pull are too separated to create movement in the desired direction and an intermediary position is required, I will try this out and see if it improves my results. There was also a lot on dealing with sceptics. This is a group I have struggled with. Maybe Shelle’s ideas aren’t such a bad way forward. I will give her double loop a go to see if I have any better success convincing sceptics. See what you think and check out her blog www.theshelleblog.com and other on line resources at www.wordsthatchangeminds.com and videos on www.YouTube.com
